On 23 March, Seville will host an ambitious conference on ‘Interim Management: the era of flexible management’, in which our Managing Partner, Emilio del Prado, will take part, having been invited by the organiser, the Association for Management Development (APD), in collaboration with Garrigues and Huete&Co.
The conference aims to shed light on the latest trends in the composition of management committees and Boards of Directors in an era of sharing, freelancing and pay-per-use models.
The Association for the Advancement of Management (APD)
The APD, or Association for the Advancement of Management, is an independent, not-for-profit organisation and the longest-established community of executives in Spain. As stated on its website, it has been ‘promoting the exchange of ideas since 1956’. An exclusive ecosystem where executives like you share and discuss genuine solutions to the challenges we all face.
Its mission is to promote the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences amongst business executives through courses and seminars, conferences and luncheons, major congresses, professional clubs, campus programmes and in-company training.
It was recognised as a Public Benefit Organisation in Spain in 1976 and has hosted figures such as Peter Drucker in 1973, Henry Kissinger in 1980, Richard Nixon in 1980 and Bill Gates in 1995.

Interim management: the era of flexible leadership
In Silicon Valley, between 15 and 30 per cent of professionals are freelancers. In regions such as the Benelux, the development of MaaS (‘Management as a Service’) is progressing very rapidly. Currently, between 21 and 22 per cent of managers and professionals are self-employed, and this figure is expected to reach 30 per cent by the end of this decade. In the US, the majority of multimedia production in New York is carried out by freelancers. In all cases, these are highly skilled professionals.
The world is changing, and so is the way many companies approach talent. It is now more important to know where to find the right talent when it is needed, rather than having it permanently on the organisation’s books. This ensures that organisations can consistently access people with the specific profile required for any given situation.
During this event, we will share and discuss the latest trends in the composition of Management Committees and Boards of Directors to adapt to the rapidly changing times we are living in. We are in the era of the sharing economy, freelancing and pay-per-use; concepts that are gaining significant ground within corporate management bodies through ‘Management as a Service’ (MaaS), with roles such as the interim manager, head-renting and part-time executives. This approach to making the work of executives and professionals more flexible helps companies respond more effectively to events.

Do you have the necessary human resources to tackle digital transformation? Do you want to internationalise your company, but nobody in your organisation is qualified to do so? Do you need help professionalising your management? Are you facing a major organisational change? Do you run a family business and need to manage a generational handover? Did you know you can have managers without them being on the payroll or paying social security contributions?
If you’re a senior executive with over fifteen years’ experience… Are you a motivated, adaptable and committed professional? Did you know you can offer your expertise without needing to be part of a permanent workforce? Did you know you can work as an executive for several companies at the same time?
