Information Systems Department – Digital – Data
Hablar con un partnerOur IT and Data Leadership Service (CIO/CDO)
Robust infrastructure and data for accurate decision-making.
For many companies, the IT department remains a reactive cost centre and data an underutilised asset. Disconnected systems or obsolete infrastructure prevent senior management from gaining a clear overview of the business.
However, every organisation has a different level of digital maturity. Whilst some need to unify technology and data under a single leadership structure for efficiency, others require specialised leadership to tackle specific challenges.
EPUNTO’s technology interim management service is fully flexible. We assess your context and assign the executive leadership required to tackle your challenge:
CIO (Chief Information Officer): To modernise infrastructure, migrate to the cloud and ensure cybersecurity.
CDO (Chief Data Officer): To establish data governance, cleanse data and leverage business intelligence.
Hybrid Profile (CIO/CDO): To unify the technology and data vision within agile organisations.
Do I need a combined role (CIO/CDO) or separate roles?
It depends on the complexity and size of your organisation. In mid-market organisations or those backed by private equity, a hybrid role is often more efficient, ensuring consistency between the ‘pipeline’ (systems) and the data. In large corporations or complex projects, we recommend assigning specialised roles (a dedicated CIO or a dedicated CDO) to ensure focus and depth in execution.
How does your interim manager differ from a traditional IT manager?
The traditional role focuses on technical support and maintenance. Our Interim Manager (whether a CIO or CDO) focuses on delivering value to the business. Their point of contact is you (the CEO) or the Board. Their mission is to align technology investment with your growth strategy, optimise costs and maximise the value of your data.
Can an interim CDO help me solely with ‘data quality’?
Absolutely. It’s a very common assignment. If you already have a capable IT Director but your Board is struggling with conflicting reports, we assign an interim CDO dedicated exclusively to establishing ‘Data Governance’: cleaning up databases, defining the ‘single source of truth’ and implementing reliable dashboards, without interfering with infrastructure management.
How do you approach the modernisation of legacy systems?
With a pragmatic, business-focused approach. Our CIO doesn’t step in to change technology just for the sake of it, but to make it scalable and secure. He assesses your technical debt and decides what to migrate, what to integrate and what to retain, always prioritising operational continuity and minimising risk during the transition.
What role does service play in cybersecurity?
Both roles are critical. The CIO secures the perimeter and infrastructure, whilst the CDO ensures the integrity and privacy of information (GDPR). We define your company’s risk policy and disaster recovery plans, protecting your reputation and business continuity in the event of attacks.
