Our Senior Advisor service

Strategic vision and expert advice for the CEO and the Board.

Sometimes, the greatest challenge facing a CEO or a Board of Directors is not day-to-day management, but the isolation involved in making strategic decisions. At times of great complexity—such as a key acquisition, a reputational crisis or an international expansion—an external perspective of the highest calibre is required.

EPUNTO’s Senior Advisor service provides an elite sparring partner. We assign a former C-level executive (CEO, Chair) with a proven track record, whose role is not to execute, but to guide and validate. They act as a mentor to the CEO, an adviser to the Board and a facilitator of an invaluable network of contacts, bringing the wisdom and objectivity that critical decisions require.

What is the difference between a Senior Advisor, an Interim Manager and a consultant?

The consultant analyses a problem and produces a report. The interim manager (e.g. a CEO) implements the solution and assumes full responsibility for management. The Senior Advisor advises, validates and guides: they act as a sparring partner for the Board or the CEO. They do not manage day-to-day operations, but rather provide strategic vision, validate the roadmap and open up their network of high-level contacts.

When should I appoint a Senior Advisor rather than an Interim Manager?

You need an interim manager when you have a management vacuum and require someone with the ability to get things done (e.g. an interim CFO for a turnaround). You need a Senior Advisor when you already have a management team, but they require mentoring, strategic validation for a high-risk decision (e.g. a major acquisition) or access to a network of contacts they do not have.

What specific experience do your Senior Advisors have?

They are former CEOs, chairmen, independent directors or C-level executives with a proven track record of success. They are industry veterans with in-depth sector knowledge, specifically selected for having successfully navigated the challenges (M&A, international expansion, crises) that you are currently facing.

How does the placement work? Is it full-time?

No. The arrangement is 100% flexible and is usually part-time. The Senior Advisor gets involved according to your needs: attending Board of Directors meetings, a weekly follow-up meeting with you, strategic workshops or facilitating key introductions.

How do you ensure their impartiality and objectivity?

A Senior Advisor’s greatest asset is their reputation and integrity. Their interests are fully aligned with your success (that of the Board, yours as CEO, or that of the Fund). As they are external and have no internal political agenda, their sole objective is to provide you with objective, unbiased advice to help you make the best strategic decision.
