EPUNTO Interim Management at the launch of the Project Management Institute (PMI) branch in Asturias

On 1 February 2018, we held the launch event for the Asturias branch of the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s largest project management organisation. Based in the United States, PMI has over 430,000 members in 207 countries and more than 800,000 certified PMP® (Project Management Professional) professionals. The Institute provides services in standards development, research, education, publishing and networking through local chapters, conferences and training seminars, as well as project management accreditations. The aim of this Asturias branch is to bring the world of project management closer to Asturian companies and organisations in order to promote the transfer of best practice in project management. This inaugural event brought together leading figures from the Asturian business community, including the Cantabrian Institute of Technology in Gijón. The presentations were given by Fernando Milla, José Moro and Zaqueo Azcona.

The event took place throughout the afternoon at the Cantabrian Institute of Technology in Gijón and covered the following topics:

• 18:15 to 18:30 Reception of attendees

• 18:30 to 18:45 Introduction to PMI Asturias by José Moro, PMP@ and organiser of the PMI Asturias Branch.

José will give a brief introduction to PMI Asturias and the activities planned for 2018

• 18:45 to 19:15 Project management of innovative projects in uncertain environments, led by Fernando Milla, PMP® and Lean consultant.

Fernando will discuss how to use new tools and methodologies to manage uncertainty in highly innovative projects, so that business hypotheses can be validated quickly, agilely and with the minimum possible investment.

• 19:15 to 19:45 ‘Interim Management: An Opportunity for Project Managers’, led by Zaqueo Azcona

Zaqueo will discuss the opportunities that interim management offers project managers, as these professionals are the most sought-after for interim management roles in today’s organisations

• 19:45 to 20:15 The Project–Contract Management Duo, presented by José Moro

José will discuss the relationship between Project and Contract Management and the benefits of managing both together. This talk will explore the common ground and how the roles of Project Manager and Contract Manager complement one another, thereby improving project outcomes.

• 20:15 to 20:30: Closing remarks by José Moro
